At first glance Wood Oven is your typical Turkish kebab house situated on a suburban London street. As A. is a regular satisfied customer of long-standing and has converted yours truly, we would beg to differ! The menu is simple, but in a Turkish restaurant where the meat is the hero of the dish that is most certainly a benefit – they know what they’re good at here, and they stick to it. The meat is marinated to perfection, freshly grilled and is a little piece of heaven in the mouth. There is an open grill so the kitchen is on view and you can see the experienced chefs at work.
Wood Oven is popular with locals and in a street with no shortage of restaurants it’s always busy. It’s great for meeting friends, family gatherings and informal date nights. Somewhat incongruously they also offer stone baked pizzas, but if you have a wood oven then it would be a shame not to keep it working at full capacity!
